Attorney Jack Slay has long been drawn to the American constitutional tradition and the English legal inheritance from which it grew. He believes the law is not merely a set of rules or procedures. It is an instrument of justice ordered toward the truth and the protection of the dignity of the human person, even those accused of serious crimes. That conviction led him to a vocation in criminal law.
Before joining the Marc Lopez Law Firm, Jack served as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Madison County, Indiana, where he handled major felony cases. His experience on the prosecution side gives him valuable insight into how criminal cases are built, where investigations fall short, and where the weaknesses in the State’s cases are often found.
Today, as a criminal defense attorney, Jack gives every client serious and honest representation. He believes the power of the government must remain within the bounds of law and reason, and that protecting the rights of the accused is essential to the administration of justice and the common good of society.
Originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jack graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2019 with degrees in Economics and Political Science before earning his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2022.
Jack and his wife, Elaine, live in Indianapolis with their German Shorthaired Pointer, Blaise, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child, a baby girl, in the summer of 2026.
Outside the office, Jack enjoys reading theology, philosophy, and history, walking or biking the Monon with Elaine and Blaise, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago White Sox.
