Ben Shoptaw
Attorney Ben Shoptaw used to be a major felony prosecutor in Marion County, where his job was to make sure the bad guys were locked up. As a defense attorney in private practice, he’s got a new mission—keeping the good guys out of jail.
Born and raised in Indiana, Attorney Shoptaw completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University. Following that, he earned his JD from IU’s Maurer School of Law.
Attorney Shoptaw has already worn several hats in his legal career. Starting at the Office of the Attorney General, he gained experience in the Court of Appeals. He then moved to private practice where he worked on complex litigation and collections. Next was the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was a major felony prosecutor trying drug-dealing and firearms cases.
When he’s not fighting the good fight, Attorney Shoptaw loves spending time with his dog and playing recreational sports. He remains a proud supporter of IU, as well as the Pacers, Colts, and Cubs.
