What Is a Personal Injury Case? |

A  personal injury case arises when someone’s negligence has resulted in your harm. So what does negligence mean? Negligence occurs when a person does not use ordinary care.

Examples of Negligence

Here are some examples of behavior that might qualify as negligent:

  • following too closely in slick driving conditions
  • failing to yield when merging into traffic
  • failing to stop at a red light

Except in some extreme cases, negligence is not criminal. When someone’s negligence leads to another person’s injury, however, that’s what we call a personal injury case.

If you’re hurt because of someone else’s negligence, you need to speak to an attorney. Do not fall for the insurance companies’ claims that an attorney only causes delays or takes money out of your pocket.

Keep in mind that it’s in the insurance company’s best interest for you not to have an attorney. The only job an insurance company has in an injury case is to pay out the least amount of money possible.
